Music Portraits for Pregnancy and Infant Loss

Honoring Your Journey: The Music of Now I Sleep

The Story of Now I Sleep

In 2011, I released Now I Sleep as a musical gift for parents grieving pregnancy and infant loss, long before experiencing this loss myself, and my understanding has since deepened through personal experience. For that album, I worked with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILMDTS) to interview ten families, listen to their heartbreaking stories, and then compose piano works inspired by their little ones.

One of those Music Portraits is “Smile Again”, inspired by Baby Christopher. His parents Liz and Ed honored me with an interview to share the impact this music had in their lives. Watch what they had to say:

How can I get a Music Portrait for my little one?

As a trauma-informed piano composer and certified life coach, I offer a safe, confidential space for parents to share their sacred story and allow me to honor your little one through custom piano music inspired by them. Here’s the process:

1. Book a 20-minute Intro Call: Let’s see if Music Portraits is right for you.

2. Purchase a 60-minute Music Portrait session: Share your sacred story with me as I listen empathetically and improvise a custom solo piano composition (3–5 minutes) inspired by your precious baby.

3. Listen to your Music Portrait: As the music plays throughout your home or in the solitude of your earbuds, soak in the remembrance and honor shown to your baby, feeling seen, less lonely, and full of peace.

Enhance Your Journey with the Legacy Experience
Take your Music Portrait to the next level with the Legacy Experience—a 12-week process of composition, professional recording and distribution to all major online streaming platforms, PLUS a certificate verifying you or your loved one as the source of inspiration. Pricing details are discussed during your Intro Call.

Note: John Albert Thomas retains all rights to the composition; you receive a perpetual, royalty-free license for personal use only, with John reserving all rights.
